RPMC Customization, Services & Support
Custom Lasers
Through our various manufacturers, we can offer a wide range of performance parameters to meet your unique application specifications. Over the years, we have delivered many customized, solid-state laser solutions. Whether you have an industrial, medical, defense, research, or some other application, we can provide custom solutions to meet your demanding requirements. Though initially developed in limited production runs, our manufacturers have the capability of scaling to larger production runs to support volume needs, facilitating your product or application developments.
Most of our standard lasers can come in custom formats with a higher power, altered pulse width, repetition rates, wavelengths, etc. Many firms have wanted narrowed linewidth or even Single Longitudinal Mode (SLM) output, and we are happy to consider that as well. Full MIL-spec lasers are also an arena to which we have delivered several lasers.
Please note that, in general, custom lasers tend to have a longer lead time than standard laser configurations. In such a case, the design and components must be obtained before moving into production. It is not uncommon to have 2 to 3-month lead times on key components. We do our best to schedule and plan for these delays to shorten lead times as much as possible and to give you the most accurate estimations.
Our custom laser offerings include:
- High-power ns and sub-ns MOPA lasers – UV, visible, and IR
- Optical parametric converters
- Amplified single-frequency sub-ns lasers
- Amplified picosecond lasers
- DPSS femtosecond laser at 1um
- 1, 1.5, and 2um fiber lasers
- Active and passively q-switched configurations
- Mil-Compliant and Industrial-Grade Designs
- And more…!
If you are interested in more information on our custom laser offerings, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@rpmclasers.com . Ideally, we like to have all known critical parameters such as wavelength, pulse energy, repetition rate, pulse width, and environmental specifications, as well as an idea of what kind of footprint is required. Include the ideal, minimum, and maximum specifications so that we can see the design freedom and make you the most satisfying proposal. It may be the case that we offer a standard laser that would fit these requirements. If you are not a laser specialist, you may need to be more familiar with how to state some of the specifications. In that case, please feel free to email or call us at (636) 272-7227, and we will help guide you to the right solution.

Custom Laser Diodes and Packaging
For over 25 years, we have been packaging high-power, broad-stripe, multimode laser diodes, mainly in the esoteric wavelengths, emphasizing the red and IR wavelengths. Many of the esoteric wavelengths are less robust than the more common 808nm laser diodes. Some of these laser diodes are much more heat sensitive, and heat management of these devices is critical to help ensure long life. Skills from our many years of experience are employed in packaging these devices.
LDX Optronics (Maryville, TN) packages 10`s of thousands of devices per year. Our preferred packages are the c-mount and other open heatsinks. Still, LDX can produce virtually all of the standard single-emitter laser diode packages, including F mounts, 9 mm can, TO-3 package, the high heat load package (HHL), various fiber-coupled packages, and custom packages. Whether you need a unique package, have special lensing requirements, or need additional components such as PD, thermistor, aiming beam, etc., in the package, we can work with you to meet your needs. Let us know what we can do to help!

Custom Wafer Growth
Our MOCVD/MOVPE growth process is extremely reliable and closely monitored. In this way, we ensure consistently high quality in the epitaxy of wafers. This process is certified according to the international standard ISO 9001:2008.
Depending on your design, we produce semiconductor layer structures on 2-inch, 3-inch, 4 -inch, and 6-inch wafers. We use two different reactors with 8 or 12 wafers per run to produce the wafers.
Our wafers are used for high-power diode lasers within a wavelength range of ~760 to 1060 nm, as surface emitters (VCSELs and VECSELs), as light-emitting diodes (RCLEDs and LEDs), or as detectors.
Our engineers and technicians have continuously enhanced the process over many years.
- Highest quality: We monitor the growth of layer structures with the most excellent care and the latest measurement technology.
- Traceability: Production documents are stored in a state-of-the-art database system.
- Flexible and competent: Thanks to short development cycles, we implement your requests quickly and reliably.
- Low-cost: Low development costs for the epitaxy of customer-specific requests for wafers.
