Broadband Light Sources
Broadband light sources are also referred to as superluminescent sources. Emission bandwidths for broadband laser sources can range from a few nanometers up to hundreds of nanometers. This large bandwidth characteristic results in a low temporal coherence. This means that the emitted light has a low capacity for maintaining its phase over time. However, superluminescent emitting diodes (SLEDs) exhibit a high degree of spatial coherence. This spatial coherence allows for efficient focusing, as is the case with other laser devices. We provide a selection of compact, broadband light-emitting diodes, in both butterfly packaging and table-top modules, complete with digitally controlled interface and integrated SLED driver and temperature control electronics.
