High-Performance – Thanks to Technology
Our latest advancements in mounting and assembly technology have led to the development of our new high-power open heat sink diode laser generation, LK. This new generation can achieve optical output power levels that significantly surpass those of industry standards such as the CS.
Traditional die-mounting technologies depend on laser bars being soldered with either indium or gold-tin solder. However, these soldered connections are susceptible to mechanical failure, particularly under hard-pulse conditions. These conditions involve the periodic operation of the diode laser between below-threshold and operating current at sub-second intervals. To address this issue, Jenoptik has pioneered a new, solder-free technique. This results in a more robust connection that is stable under hard-pulse conditions and can endure the temperature fluctuations that occur during hard pulse operation.
The LK heat sink design features double-sided cooling and an additional heat sinking capacity due to its protruding nose. This ensures optimal heat sinking capability, resulting in thermal resistance values as low as < 0.25 K/W for high-power laser bars up to 300 W (cw, hard-pulse).
The higher output power per package simplifies power scaling and system assembly, providing significant added value for our customers.
